Cooking, that is. And, this is not even what one would call cooking; making a Sun-Dried Tomato Pasta Salad.

I should never try to multi-task when cooking. Like trying to watch "Fixer Upper" on HGTV, make the sun-dried tomato sauce & boil the pasta. Should have been paying more attention to the recipe for the sauce. It called for "kosher salt " to taste; I misread the 2 tblsp. of olive oil for the measurement also for the salt. Yes, I put 2 tblsp. of salt in the sauce. And, let us not forget the salt I generously put in the boiling water for the pasta. Result, instant throbbing headache. Picture of finished dish below:

Tried to salvage the dish by adding another half pound of pasta. It does taste somewhat less salty, but, I don't think this is going to remedy the problem. This salad is supposed to be room temperature when you eat it, but, I think I will let it rest in the fridge overnight; maybe the extra pasta will soak up some more of that salt. Speaking of cooking disasters, I broke one of my favorite cast-iron pots. A couple of weeks ago, decided to make egg salad. Put eggs in cold water as they tell you to, waiting for it to boil & take off the heat, cover & let the eggs continue to cook for 15 minutes. What could go wrong? Well, lot if you decide to go on your computer & completely forget about the eggs. While on the computer I heard a crackling sound, but, ignored it, thinking it was the plastic water bottle I had just tossed in the trash. Then, I smelled something burning & remembered the eggs, too late. Not only were the eggs burned & the shells cracked, so was my lovely cast-iron pot, on the inside and the outside. Naturally, all the water had evaporated (Once before I let all the water boil out of a pot on the stove - hence the title of this journal, "Uh Oh, I Burned The Water!").

I loved this pot. Now I have to wait until QVC has it on sale again at Easy Pay. I'm certainly not paying full price. Saving grace, the top of the pot is actually a grill skillet which I can still use.
