Finished viewing 1st episode of Gracepoint - I must say, the jury is still out. Need to see more episodes to determine whether I'm going to stick with it.
David Tennant's portrayal was good, although, I'm missing that wonderful accent. His American accent is passable. Strange that this originally British drama is set in a small California seaport town, but, was filmed in Canada. Go figure (there is no authenticity these days, it's all about money).
Anna Gunn, portraying the Ellie Miller role is just ok; I think I'm still seeing Olivia Colman in Broadchurch (who was outstanding). The actor playing the father, Mark, is just terrible; when Carver gave them the news of their son's death, he might as well have just told him Cherries was on sale at the Green Grocer! He just looked sullen, no shock, no grief, no sadness. And, when Ellie took him to see Danny's body in the morgue, his entire speech, tears & look appeared fake. I could understand the father being in denial, but, this was not what the actor was portraying. His posture & reflection, were all wrong. This guy is just a flat out bad actor!
I figured Chris Chibnall would be involved, since he is the creator (also, Executive Producer, created Teleplay), but, was surprised to see that Euros Lyn is listed as one of 4 Directors. Well, maybe a British flavor to this production will make it better.
I've promised myself to try to stick with it through all ten episodes, but, I'm not sure. I'll try.
Note: Ate 4 pieces of fudge while watching, bad, bad, bad! Not the fudge, just the eating part (Those white globs are Marshmallows).
