THE POPE COMES TO AMERICA

At 4pm yesterday, watched live telecast on MSNBC of Pope Francis' arrival at Andrews Air Force Base; greeted by the President, Mrs. Obama & family, plus Vice President Joe Biden & family. Kind of exciting seeing the Pope on American soil. I like Pope Francis, at least for now. Don't like several aspects of church doctrine. That's to be expected - never once have I ever agreed in total with every word or action by someone I happen to like. Even the President & I like him a lot.

Decided I would try taking pictures with my iPhone 6, off of the TV screen, just to see if they came out clear; not that bad, but, not ideal - Photos below cut:

Just as a side note; Sasha & Malia Obama have grown into beautiful, poised & mature teenagers. I'm pretty sure that while Malia is attending University next year, we will not be reading news reports (I sincerely hope not!) of underage drinking in a bar, with a fake I D. As we have with recent past Presidential daughters. Not necessary to name names - they know who they are. Mr. President, Mrs. Obama, good job on raising what appears to be two well-adjusted children in the harsh spotlight that is the White House.

No, I did not bake it. Begs the question, why am I drooling over a cheesecake when I have 16 recently gained lbs. to lose by October 31?

Wish I knew the answer. At some point, I will stop this madness & get back on track. That 2 SlimFast a day plan lasted only one day.

Well, the cheesecake does look tempting. Wonder how long I can go without eating it. Once it's thawed out.



Re 9/21 Posting: Reason my 2nd attempt at homemade Whipped Crème tasted like butter? I found out that if you beat cream too much, it starts to turn into butter. A fact I should have known. After all, I spent my early childhood on a farm & one of my chores (which I loved, at the time) was churning butter for the week. I seem to have lost a lot more brain cells than I thought!
