While watching & listening to this last night, I sat there stunned. I kept saying (apparently everybody had the same opinion), NO Fergie, NO, NO. PLEASE STOP, JUST. I wanted someone to drag her off the court. I sat through the entire rendition, not believing my bleeding ears. I quickly changed the channel, never went back to the game. That's how traumatizing it was. Should have known - the pre-game show was a precursor of more bad things to come.
Worst rendition, ever. Yes, Roseanne & Carl Lewis, she got you beat. I now regret not watching the BAFTA telecast on BBCA channel. Now I will have to catch up with it later this week, ON DEMAND. Bummer.
I know, I sound harsh, but, it's been a terrible week in this country, and, watching "drunk or drugged singing" did not help my foul mood. No apology will be forthcoming.
After listening to this a 2nd time, I realize that the reaction of the Players & the Celebrities in the stands is what makes this so funny.
I did go back & listen to Carl Lewis' rendition (I refuse to call it singing). The thing Carl has on his side is he is not a singer - Fergie " alledgedly " is (8 Grammies? When? How?). I confess, the only song I ever purchased by the Black-Eyed Peas is " Where Is The Love ". That's it. So, my earlier criticism of Fergie's National Anthem still stands. Still no apology.
