At least until Sat. 8/23, 8:15 PM.
Earlier this afternoon, watched Doctor Who - " Silence In The Library ", 1st appearance of River Song & pt. 2, Forrest of The Dead. This may seem minor to most, but, I've always been bothered by the fact that when River asked for a chicken leg, the women of color, Anita (Nita??), was the only one able to produce said item. Why am I not surprised? Because this is the UK we're talking about here. In the USA, in this day & age, that scene would never happen in a serious drama (unless you were going for satire). For those wondering why, it all has to do with the appearance of racial stereotyping.
Then, I started to watch "Stolen Earth " (idiot Rose is back) & " Journey's End ". I quit after 35 minutes into Stolen Earth. Could not watch Jack being turned into a frightened, cowering, panic-stricken lump, at the words EXTERMINATE. To think that Harriet Jones, a deposed former PM had to shame him into action. How ridiculous! He certainly was not frightened or cowering on the Game Station, where he knew he most likely would die - he instead carried the fight to them & died valiantly. And, this was before he became immortal. So no, Jack would not have given up at the words Exterminate. Another thing that always ticked me off, Ianto standing behind Gwen after the Dalek had invaded the HUB; Gwen all of a sudden can identify a moving object as not a planet, acquired computer geek skills & vowing to go down fighting, like Tosh, with Ianto standing behind her, waiting for her to act first. Really! We're talking about the same Ianto who was smart & brave enough to make his way around fighting Cybermen & Daleks, in the bloodbath that was the Torchwood Tower at Canary Wharf? Plus, he rescued a partially converted Lisa. I don't think so. And, it makes no sense that the Earth would surrender to the Daleks or destroy itself to end humanity's suffering. NOT! Indigo Project, indeed. Not sure about you guys in the EU, but, the United Nations does not speak for nor have any jurisdiction over the United States of America, in the final analysis. Yeah, we are part of the UN, but, it still does not supersede the U S Constitution. So, there! I had enough of watching such nonsense. As Marvin Gaye said in Inner City Blues, " Make Me Wanna Holler! ". Think I'll go watch a Judge Judy re-run.
