Well, it's a start. So, once again, you had to be bullied & shamed ( although, I think you have no shame ), into doing your job. Forced to do the right thing. You previously & quickly waived the Jones Act ( The Merchant Marine Act of 1920 ), to temporarily aid Houston & parts of Florida. Why not Puerto Rico?
I may be wrong, but, I'm thinking that International Governments could have been shipping in aid all along, helping those American citizens. They could have already shipped in the fuel needed for transporting that aid piling up at ports. Finding drivers, clearing the roads. What is the purpose of FEMA? Why have they not been able to locate drivers & trucks? Ship some in! Why do they appear to be so unorganized? Why is it so easy for the excuses to roll off your tongue?
You told us & the World, you refused calls from lawmakers & activists asking that international organizations & governments be allowed to ship aid to the Island. Due to business interests - in a word, Money. Wealthy business people in the shipping industry did not want the Jones Act lifted, due to the fact they would lose money & they were afraid of losing some control of every aspect of the rescue effort. IMO - my take. donald trump, you did not seem to have a problem when it was Houston & Florida. Well, they were Republican governors. And, for the most part, these are just brown people. Meanwhile, American citizens continue to suffer.
