I am so busted! And, it's all John Barrowman's fault. Kidding! The plan for today for first hour: Get up at 6:30am, take a Bath, shampoo hair, get dressed. 2nd hour: Clean bathroom, vacuum, sweep, dust rest of apartment, put away clean towels I dried last evening & put used towels from bath into wash. That meant that I could leave to go grocery shopping by 8:30am ( I have no food in my apt. & no bottled water - only drink b/w) & be back by at least 10:30am to watch Wimbledon all day. Sounded like a good plan.
Then I remembered, this is July 1, I can order John's new CD from iTunes. That happened at 7:50am. I decided to listen to it while dusting; I absolutely love it. I have to admit I was a little concerned that it was all covers again & totally bummed out that the title was You Raise Me Up; after listening to that song in the past, for about the thousandth time, I always wanted to scream stop, no more! It became annoying. And, Mandy, I've always hated that song. But, I had a chance this past Sunday morning to hear John on a BBC Radio2 interview - he sang live with just a piano ( props to the pianist, apparently 1st time they rehearsed was that morning!). He sang Heaven (not on CD) & Mandy; he brought a new freshness & clarity to both songs, especially Mandy. Can't believe I actually loved his rendition of Mandy. He is just fantastic live, no backing vocals, no backing tract, no auto-tune, just John & a piano. Amazing. I loved all the songs (yes, even You Raise Me Up & Mandy), especially Skyscraper, Loch Lomond & Hollywood, which I put on repeat. Now, if we could just get a good songwriter to compose some original songs just for John Barrowman, that would be great. Listening, Gary Barlow?
After purchasing John's CD, decided to get Sam Smith's "In The Lonely Hour " (Deluxe Version). Also, One Republic's " Dreaming Out Loud " & " Native ", plus their "Christmas Without You" single. So not in my budget! Did I get back to my chores? No - I decided to look up Rachelle Ferrell Live in Montreau - 1997. Didn't buy it, thank goodness. But, I went to YouTube, found the video & put it on to play ( 1 hr-37m-54s). Great concert. Then I went back to my chores, right? Nope. Turned on Tennis & watched Sharapova get upset in three sets (happy!).
I've wasted the entire morning, don't feel like grocery shopping now, so, will get some bottled water & newspapers from the Pharmacy on the corner & order some food for delivery from the restaurant down the block (they have a great Salmon Panini & Mista Salad & Tiramisu). This is why I cannot save any money. So, back to my cleaning chores & Tennis. Think I'll play John's CD again.
