Rising Star - Wasted another 2 hours watching this competition on ABC. After the 1st airing 3 Sundays ago, vowed not to watch again. Terrible singers! But, thought I would give it another chance, since it was still in the audition rounds. 2nd Sunday - just as bad, if not worse. So, why was I back again watching this Sunday? Oh, I don't know - didn't want to wash my hair or do the laundry, or vacuum. And, I just about had my fill of the stupid brothers on HGTV & Cut-throat Kitchen on Foodnetwork was a no go. So, there I was - Rising Star has got to be one of the worst Summer shows ever! Out of the entire 6 hours, only 1 contestant (Gabrielle), on tonight's show, could actually sing. Although, in the future, she may want to stay away from iconic songs made famous by iconic singers ("My Man", Barbra Streisand). The rest were just awful. One young women, Skye, came on dressed like a "Hoochie Mama", as the kids would say; thigh-high black leather boots, short, short, tight black leather shorts (I'm sounding redundant here!), a white blouse with the ends tied at her middle, to show her bare stomach. Now, unfortunately, perception is everything - I don't think most people cared what she was singing. The Judges - Ludacris liked her boots, I have no idea what Brad Paisley said & Kesha is just an idiot! They also had 3 young men, triplets - they flat out could not sing - where did they find these people? Kesha voted for them, hoping they would take their shirts off. Did I say Kesha is an idiot? That's it, no more of this stupid show.
Sherlock - glad to hear there will be a 4th season of Sherlock - a Special, plus 3 episodes. At least, I think I'm glad. Last season, I was quite annoyed with the focus on Mary Morstan, Watson's assassin wife; the entire idea was ludicrous. Watson's wife was not a central character in the Sherlock Holmes stories (she was in one case that Holmes solved, which is how John met her). I really don't want to see Mary again. Well, we shall see.
Amazon Rip-off - On July 1, bought John Barrowman's new CD, on iTunes, for $9.99. Can someone please tell me how Amazon USA can justify charging $31.47 for the same CD - just because it's listed as an import? Outrageous! Even Amazon UK only has it listed between 8 - 9 pounds & 7.47 pounds for MP3 (or is that Euros?). I would advise anyone here in the US to order it from Amazon UK (even with shipping/handling - still cheaper) or download it from iTunes - it's very easy to set up an iTunes Library account. Again, Amazon USA, outrageous!
